As director of the Venezuelan label Cacao Musica, I considered several candidates in our search to find the rightcompany to promote to the US market our catalogue of jazz, Latin and World Music recordings. There is no doubt MFA was the best choice to provide the radio promotion, publicity, editorial and consulting services our new North American operations required. I had the opportunity to meet and work with Mitchell in December 2004 when he coordinated a project for the British label Dune Records that brought one of their artists to The Jazz Gallery for his North American debut. In 2005 Mitchell Feldman conducted the North American jazz radio promotion and publicity campaign for Anzic Records' first release, label founder Anat Cohen's recording debut as a leader "Place & Time." The results he achieved played no small part in raising Anat's profile both in the US and Canada. With the full-fledged launch of Anzic in the Spring of 2007 we naturally included MFA in the team of partners we assembled to promote and market our next releases. I honestly didn't understand the importance of promotion until I met Mitchell Feldman. After having disappointing results trying to promote my first CD on my own, I consulted with and hired Mitchell to work my second CD "Optimism" that I released on my own label, Changu Records. Mitchell was selective and sent my CD to the right people-- ones he KNEW would play my music. Altogether more than 100 stations in the US and Canada programmed “Optimism” which reached #3 on the CMJ college radio Jazz Top-40 Chart and spent several weeks on the JazzWeek Top-50 Jazz Chart. So, when my client, Manuel Valera, decided to embark on a national radio campaign to promote his debut CD, “Forma Nueva,” we agreed the product had to be handled by a professional. Valera’s CD received incredibly strong support at radio for a self-produced first recording by an emerging artist. I've worked with a number of different publicists but Mitchell is the first who felt like an integral part of our team rather than a hired gun. He was engaged by the German label ACT Music to handle the PR campaign for “It Is Written,” the debut CD by Peter Apfelbaum’s New York Hieroglyphics Ensemble and Peter’s first big band album in a decade. We got superb results. In addition to reviews of the recording in Down Beat, JazzTimes and Jazziz, Peter was the subject of a profile in DownBeat and of a Jazz Notes column in Billboard timed to the street date of the CD. Mitchell was also able to insure that we received listings in all of the major New York publications for our gigs in the city. Mitchell also does radio promotion and while the label we're working with didn't hire him to work on our campaign, he still provided us with important information regarding airplay around the U.S. that we would not have had access to otherwise. Next time we will definitely want him to do our radio promotion as well as PR. I'm frequently asked for publicist recommendations—I have and will continue to recommend Mitchell to anyone who asks.

KEITH TERRY, Founder & Musical Director – SLAMMIN all-body band (Oakland, CA)
Crosspulse Records & Videos retained Mitchell to handle radio promotion in the US and Canada of the debut CD by SLAMMIN all-body band. Our group—a sextet of four a cappella singers, a body percussionist and a beat-boxer— is an unusual sell since neither the band nor its recording fit neatly into any one convenient musical genre or format. Mitchell did an outstanding job in every aspect of our promotion, from working to getting adds and airplay around the country to arranging interviews. His tenacity, endless energy and attention to detail were evident in every step of the project. In particular, I appreciate his style: While masterful in his knowledge of “who” to send the CD to and the various “what’s” that need to be done “when,” he was open to input and discussion when we had thoughts or questions about the procedure. Most importantly, Mitchell always follows through—he does what he says he will do. The SLAMMIN all-body band CD peaked at #23 on the CMJ Jazz Top-40 chart measuring airplay at 150 college stations in the US and Canada and was heard regularly at NPR stations in Boston, Norfolk, Philadelphia and the San Francisco Bay Area. My wife and I decided to devote more time to our own musical careers during the fall of 2005 and needed someone to handle national radio promotion and publicity for three CDs our 10-year-old jazz label and artist services company was releasing. BluJazz turned an essential function of our company over to him and he did an exceptional job.
